Wednesday 18th July 2007 - Week 29
West Pentire and Porth Joke, Near Newquay, Mid Cornwall
This week's photos are a continuation from last weeks visit to Holywell Bay. I left you last week at Kelsey Head and the walk continues to Porth Joke (also known as Polly Joke). This is a lovely little inlet with a fabulous beach of golden sand. There are no facilities so you will have to bring everything with you, and the nearest car park is situated up a little lane. After passing through Porth Joke my next objective was to get to West Pentire, about half a mile north of Porth Joke. My intention was to see the poppies and corn marigolds which are a feature here at this time of year. I was not disappointed as you can see from the pictures below. This is truly an amazing sight and although you may be a little late this year (these photos were taken about 10 days ago), make a note to visit next year anytime from mid-June to mid July. This area is owned by the National Trust so none of the fields are subjected to modern farming practices. Thats it for this week, hope you enjoy the pictures, see you next week.
